Seniors honored for Career & Tech excellence

Several Schoharie High School seniors have been honored for their achievement in their chosen Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses of study.

Emma Smith-Trendell, a student in the New Visions: Law & Government program in Albany, was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society during a ceremony held in late May at Colonie Central High School.

To be so honored, she had to meet several criteria, including earning a  grade point averages (GPA) of 92 or greater in her CTE program and an overall GPA of 85 or greater at Schoharie, as well as having five or fewer absences.

At a June 6 ceremony at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, Dakota Schaffer was named Outstanding Student in the Internet Applications & Design program. Schaffer completed the course at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School in Albany.

At a June 7 CTE awards ceremony at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, Cosmetology student Dakota Lathers was honored with an American Red Cross Scholarship Award and a Bryant & Stratton Scholarship. Lathers completed the course at the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School in Schoharie.

On June 9, Tanner Kent, who completed the Welding program at the CTE Center for Advanced Technology at Mohonasen, was honored at the center with the Welding II Academic Achievement Award. Earlier this year he was awarded an American Welding Society Foundation Scholarship.

Senior Joe Polley, who completed the STEM at SUNY Polytechnic Institute program, has been honored for achieving perfect attendance during the 2016-17 school year. Polley didn't miss a single CTE class.

Congrats to all!
