Greg Medak is valedictorian, Bryan Stolzenburg is salutatorian

Greg MedakGreg Medak of Schoharie has been named valedictorian of Schoharie Jr./Sr. High School's class of 2017. Bryan Stolzenburg of Wright has been named salutatorian.

Valedictorian

Class of 2017 valedictorian Medak has been active in Schoharie athletics, playing varsity soccer and varsity tennis throughout high school.

He's also been involved in Schoharie's diverse music scene, playing trombone in the high school band and in local jazz groups around the county.

He has also played keyboard in several local rock groups.

During his junior year, Medak played the lead role in Schoharie High School's production of the musical, "Bye Bye Birdie."

During the summer of his junior year, Medak backpacked for four weeks through the Swiss Alps, fueling his passion for hiking and rock climbing.

During the winter, Medak teaches ski lessons at Maple Ski Ridge and volunteers at the Albany indoor rock gym.

This school year, he participated in a STEM program at RPI, studying physics and engineering. He plans to study aerospace engineering or mathematics in college.

Medak is the son of Gwen and Sal Medak of Schoharie.

Salutatorian

Bryan StolzenburgClass of 2017 salutatorian Stolzenburg is a  Section 2 basketball scholar athlete who achieved high honor roll for all four years of high school and completed a legislative internship.

Stolzenburg has played varsity basketball team for three years at Schoharie High School.

He also plays saxophone in the school band and played guitar and bass in the pit band for four school musicals.

Stolzenburg has played guitar in dozens of different shows with several bands around the Capital Region. He has worked at Blue Sky Music Studios in Delmar for three years.

Stolzenburg enjoys hiking, camping and rock climbing. He spent two weeks last summer backpacking and maintaining trails in the Colorado Rockies. The experience spurred his interest in outdoor activities and volunteering.

In the fall, Stolzenburg plans on attending The University of Vermont, where he will study neuroscience.

Stolzenburg is the son of Nan and Mark Stolzenburg and grew up on their Proud Castle Dairy Farm in the Town of Wright.
