Reminder about importance of social media safety
The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Gilboa man with
sending inappropriate material to minors over social media and
endangering the welfare of a child. This individual may have had contact
with Schoharie students. We have been cooperating with the Sheriff’s
Office in an ongoing investigation.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to talk with their children about
the safe use of social media and their interactions with others on the
Internet. Students also should be encouraged to talk to a responsible
adult such as their parent, guardian, school counselor or administrator
any time they are concerned or uncomfortable about a communication or

and community agencies to keep our students safe at all times. Our
school counselors provide supportive services and are available to
answer student questions and address concerns. Our recent guest speakers
have included a State Police Investigator, addiction prevention
specialists and a motivational speaker on personal responsibility.
