Revised late bus procedures focus on safety

The Schoharie Central Schools Transportation Department has revised the procedures parents and guardians follow to secure late bus transportation for their children.

The changes have been made proactively to ensure student safety. Parents/guardians are asked to complete and return to their children's school's main office by Jan. 16 a Request for Late Bus Transportation form.

Three late bus runs with designated stop locations have been established, and students will only be dropped off at the location indicated by the parent/guardian on the form. The district cannot accommodate individual stops other than the established locations.

A letter from Transportation Director Amy Crewell, late bus request form and list of the routes and locations were mailed or sent home with students on Jan. 6, along with a frequently asked questions and answers (Q & A) about the new procedures. The items, except for the routes/locations, also may be downloaded in PDF form by clicking on the links in this paragraph.

The SCS transportation department will review requests and contact parents/guardians to confirm their children’s late bus route and stop location. Students will not be eligible to ride the late bus without a completed form on record.

Late bus procedures will take full effect on Feb. 1.

Those with questions or concerns about the new procedures should contact the transportation department that (518) 295-6684.
